Prep Time Required: No time specified.
Cooking Time Required: No time specified.

Ingredients
1 C Pecan halves 1 lb Light brown sugar
1 5 oz. can evaporated milk

Directions

Cover 2 cookie sheets with waxed paper and set aside. In a large - at least 2 quarts - glass bowl, mix sugar and milk. Stir well, until there are no lumps. Add pecans. Microwave on high for 6 minutes. The mixture will rise high in the bowl and be very hot. Carefully, stir down with a wooden spoon. Microwave on high for 3 more minutes and carefully remove from the oven. Beat with wooden spoon for 3 minutes until thick and mixture loses its gloss. Working quickly, drop by tablespoons onto waxed paper covered cookie sheets. Allow to cool completely and harden. Yes, this is what Barbara Bush really makes and serves George!

Melinda uses 1 and a half cups pecans and cooks the mixtue for 7 and 4 minutes respectively. She also puts aluminum foil between the cookie sheet and the wax paper so the pralines can be easily slid off the cookie sheets for cooling elsewhere.

24 to 30 pralines
